Angulimala has 999 fingers on his necklace. He runs after the Buddha who uses psychic powers to stay ahead. Even though Angulimala is running he can't catch the Buddha who is walking. 'Stop!' he cries out. The Buddha finally turns to face him and says: 'I stoppped long ago, why don't you stop.?'

This is a statement of the Buddha's enlightenment - that he had arrived at Truth and stopped chasing illusion. It so struck Angulimala that he cast aside his sword and asked for ordination. He soon became enlightened but such was his kamma that everywhere he went he was reviled for his past actions.
