The
Fields of Magadha
The 'strips' represent the walkways between the rice fields while the larger areas are the fields. There is usually an odd number of vertical panels - in this case seven. The horizontal lines only cross one of the verticals - except the one in the centre - and do so on the outer vertical. There is a border all the way round. For those who are especially interested (other than monks or nuns I can't imagine who would be) you can download a file that tells you how to sew the double robe. It is particualry tricky bit of work [§] |
