This can be a very short dramatic piece or just told as a story; either way it can be a lot of fun. Ideally the plot makes clear the difference between faith, belief and Truth. The following is a brief synopsis. Set a prehistoric scene with a variety of characters and descriptions [the cave, the hide clothing, the fire, knawing on bones, etc]. The main character is Ug who is a slight intellectual cut above the rest. The sun and spirits can be cast; the rest are just grunters. They are all sitting about one day when the sun begins to eclipse. Panic. General rushing about banging into each other. Ug demands attention. I know what's wrong. The spirits are hungry and they are eating the sun. We must offer the spirits some food. Get some chickens, build up the fire. Chickens, or whatever, are sacrificed with much chanting and archetypal bowing, swaying, offering up of smoke etc. Of course the sun returns and Ug is cheered and hailed as a god incarnate. Of course the truth of spirits and the value of offerings is established as being true. |
