A teacher was discussing morality with his young disciple who seemed slow to understand so he took him to a shop in the nearby market where robes where sold. " Show me your very best robe, I am in a mood to spend excessively." A most beautiful garment was produced and an extremly high price was asked for it. " It is very much the thing that I am looking for but I would like some sequins around the collar and a touch of fur trimming." "Nothing easier said the merchant for I have just such a robe in my work room." He disappeared for a few moments and then returned having added the fur and sequins to the self-same garment. " And how much is this one?" Twenty times the price of the first one," said the shopkeeper. " Excellent, I shall take them both." |
