| A person with large ears can be thought
of as having very good hearing. As a symbol of compassion
having large ears suggests being able to hear the 'voice'
of the world - sounds of laughter and cries of pain;
words of praise and shouts of anger. If we listen to each other with kindness and patience then we hear the world like a Buddha. Gotama was a prince and would have worn heavy and ornate jewellery, as was the custom then. Over a period of years this would have stretched his ear lobes. |
