What does freedom look like to you?

Buddhism
in fact all religions

Buddhism - in fact all religions - try pointing a way to be free from suffering, free from anxiety and free from worry.
The teachings of the Buddha point to this freedom.
At one time when Gotama the Buddha was going to another monastery, one of the monks made a wooden statue of him to have something to remember him by. When the Buddha heard about this he was annoyed and said how silly the monk was. He said it was more important to remember the teachings he had given, than trying to remember what he looked like.
The Buddha always placed emphasis on his teachings and not on himself as a person. He said that when he was away the monks should not make statues, but bow to the Bodhi Tree - as a symbol of enlightenment, and the Dhammacakka - as a symbol of the teachings that lead to enlightenment.
