MONEY MONEY MONEY

This coin is made from solid gold and is about 1900 years old. It was made for King Kaniska who was ruler of the Kusana empire in North-West India.
On the left you can see the letters 'Boddo', which is the Greek way of writing Buddha. The mark on the right is Kaniska's personal sign, which is how we can tell how old it is.
This is one of the earliest datable images. It is significant to see an image of the Buddha on an official coin as it means he was accepted and approved of by the ruling authorities of that time.
