TATUE
This statue is of a broad-shouldered,
healthy and strong male - a leader

The posture is relaxed and confident and the face handsome, gentle and noble. The robe is simple but neatly arranged over both shoulders, reaching down to mid calf - you can see the line of an under-robe below the bottom edge. His feet, long toes of equal length, are bare, as is the tradition of monks to this day.
You could easily imagine that this man could have been a king.

He is standing on a lotus - a symbol of his enlightenment. There is a disc behind the head which, because it is plain, could mean any of the things discussed about the wheel on (a page yet to come).
There are several features about the head which are discussed in more detail in the section on symbols, but just for now briefly notice that:

The earlobes are quite long
There is a small dot between the eyebrows
The hair is drawn up in a topknot
