The image has a very ornate crown and other decorative adornments as one might imagine a great king would have.

The story of this statue converns a proud and arrogant emporor, Jambupati, who had heard great things about the Buddha and wanted to meet him. The Buddha, upon hearing that he was coming realised that Jambupati was so proud that it would not be possible for him to accept the Buddha if dressed only in a simple robe. So, using his special powers he decked himself in the splendid and ornate finery you can see here.

Jambupati was very impressed with the splendour and being humbled, his mind was then open to hear and understand the teachings of the Buddha.
